Liaison Program

Jase graduated from the Central Texas Regional Police Academy and worked for the City of Lampasas as a Police Officer before coming to TMPA in 2010. He has been in law enforcement for 10 years and holds an Intermediate Peace Officer License, Intoxilyzer Operator License, Field Training Officer Certification and TCOLE Instructor Certification. Jase worked as a LEADRS Specialist with TMPA prior to starting with the LEL program in October 2012.

Katie has been in law enforcement for 20 years and currently works part time with the City of Oak Ridge North Police Department. She has a TCOLE Master Peace Officer License and holds numerous certifications including; Field Training Officer, SWAT and Special Investigator. Katie has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and she is currently pursuing her PhD in Psychology at Grand Canyon University. She worked as an Instructor for the SAFVIC program and the Advanced Child Abuse program prior to joining the Law Enforcement Liaison team.

Chuck began his law enforcement career over 45 years ago at the Hewitt Police Department, where he served as a city police officer for 3 ½ years. He then joined the Texas Department of Public Safety as a State Trooper and retired from Texas DPS in August of 2011. He is currently serving as a Texas Law Enforcement Liaison through a Texas DOT Traffic Safety grant, with the Texas Municipal Police Association as the parent organization.

Chuck is commissioned as a Special Ranger through the Texas DPS. He attended McLennan Community College, where he earned an Advanced Certification in Law Enforcement Education. Additionally, he holds a Master Peace Officer and Instructor Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. His instructor certifications include Below 100 for Law Enforcement Instructor, Distracted Driving Course for Law Enforcement, Child Occupant Restraint Enforcement, and he is a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Chuck is also certified as a Drug Recognition Expert Instructor and a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor.

Trent Lozano is first and foremost, a loving and devoted father. He is a Texas Master Peace Officer with over 20 years of experience which includes several years as a Major Crimes Detective, SWAT Team member, and Training Coordinator. Trent holds multiple law enforcement certifications in a variety of disciplines such as: Sexual Assault/Family Violence Investigator, Basic and Advanced Instructor, Basic and Advanced SWAT, Court Security Specialist, Mental Health Peace Officer, and more. He is a certified Firearms Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, ALERRT I Instructor as well as a Less Lethal Specialist holding Instructor certifications in OC, Taser, and PepperBall, less lethal 12 gauge and more. Trent also holds a Master Instructor certification for the TI Simulator system. Trent is also a public speaker and writer and regularly speaks at various events and seminars on the subjects of firearms, self-defense, use of force, tactics, civilian interaction with law enforcement, Active Shooter response, how to live the armed lifestyle and more. 

Jason began his law enforcement career in 2001 in Arizona before moving to Texas and joining the Leander Police Department. He honorably retired after 20 years of service and still retains a Master Peace Officer license by the state of Texas. Some of Jason’s roles over the years have been as a Firearms and Defensive Tactics instructor, HRT team member, a member of the Collision Reconstruction Team, a motor officer, and Internal Affairs Investigator, just to name a few. Jason also received a certification as an Advanced Specialist in human factors and human performance. With this certification he can understand how humans best learn and retain skills, and how real-world environments influence decision-making and skill performance.

Michael Earney is a TCOLE-certified Master Peace Officer and Instructor with more than 31 years of law enforcement experience. Michael has accumulated over 4,000 hours of professional training and holds multiple advanced certifications through TCOLE, including Advanced and Master Peace Officer, SFST Instructor, and Sexual Assault/Family Violence Investigator certifications. In addition to his law enforcement credentials, Michael is a certified Texas educator in Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security. He is known for his exceptional knowledge of law enforcement procedures, effective communication skills, and ability to analyze complex situations to develop practical solutions.
