The Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) program elevates traffic safety throughout the State of Texas, working in an all-inclusive supportive role with the Texas Department of Transportation, providing education on multiple traffic safety topics.

  • Assist TxDOT Traffic Safety Specialist and Law Enforcement agencies with the State STEP grant process and applications related to that process.
  • Assist subgrantee agencies with eGrants Performance reporting and Request for reimbursements, and underperformance issues.
  • Provide assistance to Traffic Safety specialist at traffic related events, campaigns, conferences or community events to promote TxDOT program.
  • Provide training to law enforcement on traffic safety grant proposals and grant creation, grant management and use of eGrants.
  • Provide training and support to communities in Texas regarding safer driving and child passenger safety.
  • Meet with new perspective traffic safety subgrantees to generate interest in TxDOT grant opportunities.

Grant Executive Training

Is a multi-course approach to the entire STEP (Strategic Traffic Enforcement Program) Grant process from how to build a grant to the actual activities associated with application of the grant. The courses assist with he process of building the grant from beginning to end. Also, familiarize agency staff with all of the aspects associated with the management of a STEP grant.
